It started with Paris by Cathy Kelly

I was lucky to receive an advance copy of this book from http://www.lovereading.com.
In Paris, at the top the Eiffel Tower, a young man from Ireland proposes to the love of his life. When she says ‘yes’ everything changes, not only for the young couple but it brings changes for all their friends and family who are waiting for them back in Bridgeport, Ireland.
Can the wedding of this young couple change the lives and fortunes of those around them: Leila the best friend of the bride who is suffering following the breakdown of her own marriage; Vonnie, the wedding cake maker who is a young widow trying to find love for a second time; Birdie, the mother of the bride who has lived for too long with a domineering husband and Grace, mother of the groom who is divorced from her husband and feels the loneliness of being single every day.
This terrific cast of characters is drawn together because of one moment at the top of the Eiffel Tower. I loved this book – it is not just sentimental “chick lit” (which I am not a great fan of ) but an exploration of human emotions and how our lives impact on each other without us perhaps even realising it so I was pleasantly surprised with the book as I thought it would be just another romance story. There is much more to this book than first meets the eye. I would definitely recommend this as a book perfect for cuddling down with on a cold winter evening.
